Our hearts are in Ukraine, but we understand that some families may feel more comfortable choosing another destination.
In Georgia, the process is in the hands of the same surrogacy center where our daughter was born, and we had an excellent experience there.
Here are the most important differences between the two countries:
Both destinations offer a guaranteed program, ensuring that the birth of the baby or babies will happen, regardless of how many embryo transfers are needed.
In both cases, the selection of gestational carriers is carried out by the Ukrainian surrogacy center. Our gestational carrier chosen by them is an excellent person, responsible, intelligent, affectionate, very maternal, and hardworking. In the case of Georgia, the Ukrainian surrogacy center conducts its own search to ensure it meets this characteristics and offers gestational carriers a higher compensation than what has historically been offered by Georgian surrogacy centers. This ensures they count on the most suitable candidates more quickly, reducing waiting times for gestational carrier assignments compared to local surrogacy centers that currently have high demand due to the large migration of families who, given the current situation in Ukraine, have decided to start the process in Georgia instead.
The medical clinic where assisted reproductive treatment is performed is a local clinic in both cases: in Kyiv, it is a specialized clinic in assisted reproduction, and in Tbilisi, it is a clinic featuring all medical specialties and a good track record in assisted reproduction.
In both cases, the biopsy of blastocysts previously obtained from fertilization is carried out within a few days in the same laboratory in Turkey, and the report is received in English.
The birth of babies in Ukraine occurs, as is customary for all Ukrainian children, in a state maternity clinic in the center of Kyiv. In the case of babies born in Tbilisi, the birth takes place in a private maternity clinic, the first in the Georgian capital.
Both countries have a strong Surrogacy Law that guarantees that all babies born through surrogacy will be given a passport to leave the country.
The coordination of preparations for both trips, to Kyiv and Tbilisi, is handled by the same Ukrainian coordinators.
Once at the destination, in Kyiv, the same coordinators will continue to assist families in person, while in Tbilisi, families will be assisted by Georgian coordinators appointed by the surrogacy center.
In both destinations, accommodation, meals, newborn equipment during the stay, and transfers during the first trip are included in the guaranteed program. During the second trip, transfers are also included, and meals and accommodation can be arranged directly with the surrogacy center in both capitals or on your own.
Families can arrive in Georgia by plane, while in Ukraine, passenger airports are not currently operational, and you can reach Ukraine from other countries by train, bus, or car.
Finally, costs in Georgia are 10% higher than in Ukraine.
We hope this comparison helps you fulfill your dream of starting a family. Please feel free to reach out if you need assistance with this decision.
Best of luck to all of you!
