Choosing the surrogacy center in Ukraine was a decision we made with great consideration, and one crucial aspect for us was the care provided to the gestational carriers.
In this photo, a symbolic detail speaks volumes about the treatment Anna, the gestational carrier for our daughter, received throughout her journey.
On the day of our daughter's birth, she sent me this image from her hospital room to share the surprise she received from the surrogacy center: a bouquet of flowers, chocolates, and a card with a poem celebrating the valor of women. She felt truly honored by this gesture, beyond the attention and care we could directly provide.
The surrogacy center also gifted her a bouquet of flowers, chocolates, and a card on International Women's Day.
In addition to these gestures, Anna consistently expressed satisfaction with the care she received—be it the accommodation during the final stages of pregnancy in Kyiv, medical attention, transportation to obstetric check-ups, and the return journey to her city after the birth. Even the compensation she received during and at the end of the process exceeded what gestational carriers receive in other more massive surrogacy centers.
Small details speak volumes about the respect shown to each gestational carrier, such as the reimbursement of travel expenses each time they traveled from their city to Kyiv for reproductive treatments and gestational check-ups. Anna shared that in other surrogacy centers, they only offered to reimburse the basic bus fare, and if she chose to travel by train for more comfort, they wouldn't cover that expense.
Knowing that our daughter's gestational carrier wouldn't have to deal with such pettiness gave us great peace of mind, affirming that the entire process would be respectful and dignified in every aspect.
