Psychological Evaluation of Gestational Carriers

Updated: Oct 11, 2023

Once the physical evaluation mentioned in previous posts has been successfully completed, the gestational carrier undergoes a new assessment to determine if she is socially and psychologically fit to carry out the pregnancy.

This stage is led by a licensed psychologist specializing in reproductive medicine at the surrogacy agency.

They conduct a series of sessions, employing various assessment techniques and producing a report on psychological and sociological fitness. The aim is to determine if the woman has a full understanding of the implications of the process and is mentally prepared to participate. It also assesses whether her family and social environment positively support her and if her physical environment and routine are healthy and suitable.

Ensuring the physical, social, and psychological fitness of the gestational carrier is equally important for all parties to start the process with peace of mind and professionalism.
