Once we have made our decision to embark on our surrogacy adventure, we started a research into those countries were surrogacy laws exist.
There are only few countries where surrogacy laws apply, among which Ukraine called our attention, for a number of reasons:
Their surrogacy laws fully acknowledge intended parents' parentage rights.
Registration of the baby is very simple, both intended parents are automatically registered in the birth certificate as mother and father.
Costs are considerably smaller than those in the United States.
At the surrogacy agency we chose, the procedure began immediately, once we have signed our legal contract: embryo transfer took place only a few weeks later.
The surrogacy agency we chose offered managers in every language: English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and so on. This made it easy to communicate via e-mail, chat or video calls, and it made us feel really comfortable during our time in Ukraine.
Our first time in Kyiv was in 2015, when surrogacy programs in Ukraine were completely unknown to most people.
At the time, we embarked on the adventure guided by our curious traveller nature, though we would have loved to count on other families' testimonies to help us throughout it all.
That is why "Familia de Tres" was born, as a guiding light to families around the world in need for surrogacy.
Maybe, as it happened to us, Ukraine will one day become your favourite country in the world...
