Couples who have been undergoing fertility treatments for a long time usually have a well-developed sense of patience.
However, when gestational surrogacy in Ukraine becomes an option, hope and anxiety grow again: this time, our baby is undoubtedly coming and we cannot wait to hold them in our arms.
Fortunately, our initial contact with the surrogacy center was smooth, we had a reply to our first e-mail message on the same day, mentioning the requirements to qualify for the surrogacy program. One day after we had replied with the required documents, we were approved by the surrogacy agency to start the program.
Our coordinator set a date and time for our first appointment with the fertility doctor and a meeting with the notary public, according to our arrival date in Kyiv.
We stayed in Kyiv for two weeks, which included our appointments with the fertility doctors, a meeting with our manager to ask any questions we needed, signing the surrogacy agreements before a notary public and providing our genetic samples for the ICSI procedure. We had plenty of time for sightseeing and resting in between our meetings until our flight back to Argentina.
After our departure, we were introduced to the profile of a gestational carrier candidate for our approval. Only one month after our approval, the embryo transfer took place and, two weeks later, we were sent the positive pregnancy test.
The pregnancy went on perfectly and, eight months and a half later, we were holding our baby in our arms. Both our first and second surrogacy experiences involved similar time schedules.
In our experience, eleven months after our first contact with the surrogacy center we have become a happy family of three and, five years later, an even happier family of four.
