This market was a chance discovery we made while strolling through Kyiv, after exiting the Arsenalsna metro station, which I strongly recommend visiting: it's the deepest in the world (it takes about five minutes on the escalators to reach the platforms from street level). Diagonally across from the station, a giant emoji on the facade caught the attention of our little one, so we were headed there, curious to find out what it was all about.
Night was already falling in the midst of Ukrainian winter, and upon opening the doors, we were enveloped by the warm atmosphere, live music, and the bustling crowd that had gathered there, in addition to the cool vibe all around.
While we declare ourselves forever fans of Ukrainian cuisine, that night we had the choice of 22 food stalls from around the world, all gathered in the 2,000 square meters of this former Military Arsenal building, built at the end of the 18th century, a typical example of industrial architecture now transformed into a meeting and enjoyment venue: a food court with space for 300 diners surrounded by food and beverage stands.
You can sample Ukrainian, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Greek cuisine; pizza, pasta, oysters, lobster, and other seafood, tacos, burgers, and other red meats, vegetarian dishes, pastries and desserts, wines, cocktails, craft beer, coffee, and tea.
On the ground floor, the tables are communal, which facilitated our conversations with visitors from other countries who recommended their favorite dishes to us. That's how we decided on the street-style dishes from 'Dogs and Tails' and the cakes from 'Milk Bar'.
Currently, the market is open every day from 11 am to 11 pm.
It may not be one of the most budget-friendly dining options in Kyiv, but it is certainly unique in its offerings.
Another option to enjoy this magical city on your first trip to Ukraine at the beginning of the surrogacy process or while awaiting the big day on your second trip."
