A Fantasy World in Kyiv

Updated: Oct 11, 2023

There's nothing better than a walk to ease the anxiety while we wait for the big day in Ukraine...

And while Kyiv is full of picturesque spots, watch the video to see our stroll around the most special fantasy park in the city.

Landscape Alley was created in 1980 by architect Abraham Miletsky as a panoramic viewpoint towards Dnipro River and the Podil district, hence its name. Over time, its curves have been filled with hidden art installations behind the buildings in the center of Kyiv.

The walkway connects the city center with Lvivska Square and became more popular in 2009 when playgrounds and 17 mosaic sculptures inspired in children's themes were installed there. Benches, slides, fountains, and walkways depict animals like a 30-meter-long cat/centipede, zebras, crocodiles, turtles, elephants, crows, and many more.

The installations also draw inspiration from adventure and fantasy: Alice in Wonderland and a steamboat are some of the corners you'll find there.

While they could use a bit of maintenance, we enjoyed the creativity and fantasy of each work even in the snow.

As you walk along this street, it turns into an avenue and leads you to St. Andrew's Church and the Historical Museum of Kyiv, a route we definitely recommend.

📍14 or 36 Bolshaya Zhytomirskaya Street.
