The long-awaited passport arrived very quickly, in just two days. We were just one step away from flying to Argentina!
Once our baby's birth certificate had been translated and apostilled, the surrogacy center contacted us with the Argentine Consulate in Kyiv, Ukraine, which assigned us an appointment to appear with our family of three at their offices on the following day .
Prior to this appointment, the surrogacy center asked us to send photos of our baby's face, and they took care of preparing all the necessary documentation for submission.
The next day, a vehicle from the surrogacy center picked us up from our apartment and, in a matter of minutes, we were at the Consulate building.
There, two Ukrainian ladies who spoke perfect Spanish warmly welcomed us and gently took our baby's tiny fingerprints while requesting the necessary documents.
The following day, we only had to pick up the passport at the Consulate, which was labeled as an "emergency" passport. This passport would allow us to make a single trip to Argentina and then complete the rest of the permanent documentation in our home country.
We were truly surprised and deeply grateful for the speed and willingness of the Consulate to provide us with the passport. Other families from different countries whom we had met at the surrogacy center had told us about the complications and delays they faced at their Consulates during their surrogacy processes.
It was very touching to see our son's information and photo on the Argentine passport. While it may go unnoticed for other families, it meant the world for us!
Do not miss our second experience in Ukraine at a new surrogacy center, this time as a family of four.
Now, we were ready for our flight to Buenos Aires...
