Taking a Stroller to your Surrogacy Destination

Updated: Oct 19, 2023

In our first surrogacy process in Ukraine, the surrogacy center did not provide a baby stroller at birth.

Mistakenly, considering that the birth would occur during cold temperatures, we assumed that it would not be a good idea to take walks with our newborn baby. That's why we didn't bring the stroller we had purchased from Argentina to Ukraine.

Once in Kyiv, and a few days after being discharged from the maternity clinic, the Ukrainian pediatrician advised us to start taking short walks with our baby despite the cold, as the outings would stimulate his senses, among other benefits.

With plenty of warm clothing, the recommendation was to start with fifteen-minute walks and gradually increase the duration day by day.

As we added more minutes outdoors, we felt the need to have a baby stroller for more comfort and protection from the weather.

Since we had left our stroller in Argentina, we chose to purchase a foldable umbrella-type stroller in Ukraine, one that would serve us on this occasion and in future trips.

We found a specialized baby stroller store where we bought ours, along with its travel cover for checking at the airport gate and its newborn bassinet accessory, as the seat of this type of stroller is not suitable for newborns who cannot yet support their head on their own.

We chose the Quest model from the British brand @maclarenglobal, which our son continued to use on long trips until he was four years old, including our stay in Ukraine during our second surrogacy process. At present, our daughter uses it when we want to travel light.

In 2021, the latest surrogacy center provided us with a very sturdy and complete stroller, but if this is not the case for you, we advise bringing your own stroller or purchasing one at the destination. In addition to facilitating walks, it will be useful during the return journey at the airport.

Soon we will show you how crucial the stroller was during our return journey from the first surrogacy process...
