Our New Life as a Family of 3

Updated: Oct 4, 2023

It is impossible to explain the excitement we felt when we heard the news that our baby had been discharged...

We rushed to the hotel to grab the bag with everything we needed for his debut in the real world and packed our suitcases. Then, we eagerly waited in the hotel lobby for the transportation from the surrogacy agency that would take us back to the maternity hospital: this time, we would return as a family of three.

Overflowing with joy and anxiousness, at the maternity hospital we attentively observed the final instructions from the nurses. I say "observed" because it was easier for us to interpret their gestures and demonstrations than to understand their explanations in Ukrainian!

For the first time, we were able to dress our son in the clothes we had chosen for him with so much anticipation, and we were all ready to venture out into the world together as a family!

On the way to the apartment that had been assigned to us as our home until our return to Argentina, we were taken to a laboratory to undergo DNA tests (a simple saliva test).

In just a few minutes, the three of us arrived at our new home. Waiting for us at the entrance was Lina (our "housekeeper," as they called her) to assist us with our luggage.

In the kitchen, she had prepared a Ukrainian-style lunch for us, which we honestly didn't have time to try. We were too busy unpacking everything we had brought to care for our son and settling into our new space.

The apartment was equipped with a co-sleeper crib and a bathtub, and gradually, we would make each corner our own.

Soon, we'll share with you our first month together as a family in our home in Kyiv, Ukraine – a unique and unforgettable chapter in our journey as parents.
