This is our princess, a dream come true.
One of the most frequently asked questions we receive is how we chose the surrogacy center where our baby was born in Ukraine.
In our first surrogacy process in Ukraine, back in 2015, we found it very difficult to find information and testimonials from other families when deciding where to start the process.
That's why we based our decision on the information provided by each surrogacy center on their website and on comments we found in forums about surrogacy. At that time, we decided to start the process at the most well-known and massive center, and our experience was positive back then.
That's why, when we decided to start a second surrogacy process in Ukraine, we contacted the surrogacy center where we had our first experience. However, we quickly realized that the service had changed, and it was no longer the best option for us.
Thanks to other Argentine families who had already experienced surrogacy in Ukraine, we received very positive testimonials about another surrogacy center in the Ukrainian capital, and we began our consultations with them.
Our decision to change was very carefully considered from various perspectives:
🥼 From a medical and professional perspective:
• When we came back to start our second process in the surrogacy center where we had completed our first program, they informed us that they had discarded our cryopreserved genetic material without consulting us first. Imagine how we felt upon hearing this news.
• Something that convinced us to change to the second center was noticing that the selection of gestational carriers was much more careful, and the care they received was much more personalized and delicate than in our first surrogacy process. They also received greater benefits and support.
❤️ From a care and attention perspective:
• We noticed that patient care at the first surrogacy center had deteriorated when we wanted to return. We had a hard time getting answers from the coordinator, who seemed to have little interest in helping us, despite having been their patients before.
• In the new center, from the very beginning, the attention was quick and personalized, which gave us an excellent first impression. We later confirmed that our second experience would be excellent. The coordinator's attention was incredible and much better than our first surrogacy process in terms of warmth and efficiency.
💶 From an economic perspective:
• When we inquired at the first center again, they informed us that the wait for a gestational carrier could extend up to a year, whereas in our first process, we had had no wait. Alternatively, we could choose the VIP program to have a gestational carrier assigned within six months, which was much more expensive than most surrogacy centers in Ukraine.
• The new center we chose offered a single program type, which, although slightly more expensive than the standard program at our previous surrogacy center, was much more affordable than their VIP program and offered even greater benefits: no waiting time for the gestational carrier's assignment, the possibility to choose the gender of the embryos to be transferred to the gestational carrier's uterus, the possibility to witness the birth and stay with the baby in a private room during their stay in the maternity clinic.
• While in our first process, accommodation was included in both the first and second trips to Ukraine, in our last experience, accommodation was only included in the first trip. In the latter case, during the last trip, we were offered to stay in an apartment provided by the surrogacy center, and we accepted. The experience was excellent because it was a huge and super comfortable apartment, and we would highly recommend it compared to staying in a hotel as included in our first surrogacy process. The comfort and privacy we had during the last experience were added value because we were not limited to a small bedroom as a private area but had other spacious areas to move around.
⚖️ From a legal and ethical perspective:
• At a certain point in our inquiries to start the new process at the first surrogacy center, we were informed that, due to a judicial investigation, the center would remain closed indefinitely while its situation was being resolved. Faced with this scenario and after reading in the media that the center was legally troubled for various reasons, it generated a lot of mistrust.
• Another factor that added transparency in the second surrogacy center was the closeness they provided between us and the gestational carrier from the beginning. We could get to know her before embryo transfer, have virtual meetings with her throughout the pregnancy and meet her in person during our stay in Kyiv.
For all the reasons above, we decided to choose a new center with many years of experience but a more personalized profile, both for the gestational carrier and the families.
Today, we feel 100% confident in recommending this surrogacy to those who need it, with the assurance that they will have an excellent experience in every way.
